Summing up: Kayak Cruising

Sdrivers take to the lake for the summer's first event

Blue skies, a warm breeze and calm waters were all on the agenda during the Kayak Cruising social.  With planes soaring overhead, we put our muscles to work, paddling our way toward the many Toronto islands. Sdrivers, part of a larger group including social kayak regulars and newbies alike, came out in good spirits to take in some of Toronto's lesser-seen sights.

The two-hour tour, which started at the Harbourfront Canoe & Kayak Centre, led us throughout islands large and small, making it easy to forget we were a stone’s throw from the downtown core. Heading back at the end of the tour, it was obvious there's no better view of Toronto than the one you get cruising on Lake Ontario.

Back on the mainland with a great workout under our belts, it was time to dig in to the BBQ and wrap-up the event. With lots of fresh air, good food and great people, Kayak Cruising turned out to be an awesome event.

If you didn't get a chance to come out, I definitely recommend checking out Harbourfront Canoe & Kayak Centre on your own this summer. Social Paddles (with BBQ) happen every Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday starting at 6pm and welcome beginners and pros alike. If it’s your first time, just be sure to bring a partner for a tandem (double) kayak. Whether you hit the water with a friend or solo, you’re guaranteed to have a blast!

Check out pics from the event on Picasa.

on Sunday, 28 November 2010. Posted in The S-press

Last week, S-drive was fortunate to host a panel of inspiring entrepreneurs gathered on the topic of how to ‘get ideas off the ground.’ The night’s visionaries - Harry Rosen, Executive Chairman of Harry Rosen Inc.; Joseph Canavan, former Chairman and CEO of Assante Corp.; and Bernie Li, Co-Founder of Pure Energies – shared their tales from humble beginnings to remarkable success in an interactive panel discussion. Despite their diverse backgrounds, differences in age and industries of operation, all three shared common insights on achieving success as an entrepreneur.

Top 10: Toronto Blogs

on Monday, 22 November 2010. Posted in The S-press

To kick off the S-press content here, I’m going to start a series called the ‘Top 10’, which, as you can imagine, will entail a listing and description of the top 10 of a relevant topic.

The first topic I’m going to tackle is Toronto blogs. It’s hard to imagine how one city, however large it may be, could support so many online publications, but, believe me, there are a lot of them out there. And busy young professional that you are, you probably do not have time to navigate through them and work out which are most relevant to your lifestyle.

As an influencer, you need to be ‘in the know’ about a variety of subjects covering everything from politics to food to real estate. So, get educated!

Welcome to the S-press!

I am SO excited to get this blog going. It's been a long time coming. First let me introduce myself – I am Kerri-Lynn, your S-press editor. I will oversee the content on this publication, but that doesn’t necessarily mean I’m going to write everything. That would, one, be exhausting, and two, be such a waste of resources! No, I am going to be calling on you, highly-educated and skilled S-drive members and followers, to contribute from time-to-time, as well as draw in some industry experts. So, if you don’t start pitching me some stories, I’m going to have to start assigning posts like a pain-in-the-arse professor!
