S-drivers supporter a fellow member, David Singh, by attending the launch of his new book "Hitting Stryde: a Gen-Y Career Survival Guide." It's loaded with over 110 practical and actionable early career short cuts. Harry Rosen reviewed it as "...the most definitive guide to cultivating your career I have ever encountered. It will prove a valuable tool for launching your career." Speakers included Josh Sookman, Analyst and RBC Blackberry Fund and Sanjay Singal, CEO of Fusenet. Co-authors Daneal Charney and David Singh also spoke about the STRYDE movement.

The Real Deal on Real Estate

What did we do?

S-drive members and friends attended a informal information session and discussion regarding the Toronto real estate market. A real estate agent and mortgage broker from two of Toronto’s leading firms took attendees through a detailed guide of everything one needs to know about buying real estate in the city. Thanks to all who attended!




Salsa into the night - Socialable Thursday

Board Games @ The Belmont; A Seniors Home Event

What did we do? On July 7th, a group of S-drive volunteers spent an evening playing board games with Seniors at the Belmont House. 


S-drive's One Year Anniversary Event!

When was it? Thursday, June 3, 2010, 19:00

What did we do?

S-drive members and friends met up for an "Evening of Inspiration" where Neil Hetheringon, CEO of Habitat for Humanity Toronto and Top 40 Under 40 Award Winner, shared his stories of inspiration and success. Attendees shared some beverages and appetizers as they celebrated S-drive's incredible first year in operation!




Urban Exploration

When was it? Saturday, May 15, 2010, 17:00
Where was it? Yonge & Bloor
What did we do? S-drive members took a walking tour of the city, beginning at Yonge and Bloor, and ended in the famed Distillery District. Members took the opportunity to learn about Toronto and build a connection with the people and neighbourhoods within it.

Guided by two urban young professionals, Darcy Higgins and Laurence Lui with background and expertise in urban development and environmental issues, the URBAN tour was a great opportunity to have some fun, learn a bit and enjoy the great outdoors in our wonderful city. We landed at a local pub to relax and socialize after the event.



S-drive Streetcar Pubcrawl (Second Edition)

When was it? Friday, April 30, 2010, 22:00
Where was it? The Streets of Toronto
What did we do?

100 S-drive members and friends took to the streets of Toronto on a private street car during the night of April 30th. Dressed in their most creative Olympic themed costumes, members travelled to five different venues with a ride on the rails between each location. An amazing night was had by all!




Board Games @ The Belmont; A Seniors Home Event

Where was it? Belmont House: 55 Belmont Street, Toronto
What did we do? On Wednesday April 21st a group of S-drive Members spent the evening playing board games with the residents’ at the Belmont House. The evening was filled with story telling, lively competition and fun.   This was the first of a series of Board games nights so stay tuned for the next opportunity to participate in this great event.


Raptors 50/50 Ticket Sales

When was it? Sunday, April 11, 2010, 19:00
Where was it? ACC
What did we do?

On April 11th, seven enthusiastic S-drive Volunteers helped to raise $5,550 for Best Buddies at the Raptors vs. Chicago Bulls Game by selling 50/50 tickets! Both the Raptors and the charity won on this rainy Sunday evening while the crowds at the ACC were entertained by a close game. After ticket sales were completed the S-drive members were treated to pizza in the Media Gondola high above the hardwood as the fourth quarter wound down. The win and the largest jackpot this season at the ACC resulted in a fabulous evening for our members.




Paintball Challenge

When was it? Sunday, March 28, 2010, 16:00
Where was it? Sgt. Splatters
What did we do? 20 S-drive members and friends partook in a fantastic day on the field in an all out war of the paintball titans. Participants were suited up in coveralls and sent into the battle field, there were some war wounds but nothing major! It was a fun day to develop some team dynamics and blow off a little steam!

Not-for-Profit Consulting Projects

When was it? Saturday, March 13, 2010, 11:30
Where was it? Downtown Toronto (Location TBD)
What did we do? On March 13, 2010, 12 S-drive Members spent the day  at the Downtown Marriott hotel providing free consulting services to two not-for-profit organizations; Ten Thousand Villages and Best Buddies.

The day was filled with insightful discussions and providing tangible deliverablies for the clients.



Wellness Event

When was it? Wednesday, March 3, 2010, 21:30
Where was it? Iam Yoga Studio
What did we do? House of Verona owner and Raw Foodist, Yafa Sakkejha, took S-drive members through the first half of the seminar on how to "Burn Fat at Work" - including tips on the best fat burning foods and food choices. Next, Connor Higgins, a Team Canada member and Olympic hopeful, took members through Olympic training (and the eating regime to go with it) while providing tips on how to fit it all into a busy schedule. Thanks to all for supporting this great event.


Party for a Cause - Haiti Relief Fundraiser

When was it? Saturday, February 20, 2010, 23:00
Where was it? Labatt Breweries
What did we do? Over 100 S-drive members and friends came together for this unique party with a cause. For only $40, they gained entrance to the Labatt brewery event space, free-flow Labatt beer, snacks, music throughout the night, and party games. Even better, we raised $5,000 to provide much needed support and relief to the people of Haiti. Thanks to all for their support!

Skate Date

What did we do? S-drive members enjoyed a casual afternoon of social skating in the heart of downtown Toronto. It was a seasonally warm day that offered a great chance to experience the outdoors!



S-drive After Midnight: NYE 2010

What did we do?

Over 300 S-drive members and friends rang in 2010 in style at S-drive's 2nd Annual NYE charity event! The semi-formal affair took place at Peridot Resto and Lounge in Yorkville. The ticket offered each guest two glasses of champagne, tons of gourmet appetizers, a giveaway for a trip to Mexico, a free swag bag at the end of the evening, and of course a rocking playlist that kept us partying into the early hours of 2010! We certainly brought in the new year with a bang - and managed to raise over $5,000 for the Steve Nash Foundation's new after-school facility in downtown Toronto. Thanks for your support!




A Day in Santa's Workshop

What did we do?

On Saturday December 12th, a group of energetic S-drive members spent the day in Santa’s workshop wrapping Christmas gifts to help a local charity Holiday Helpers. As the members sipped on hot coco, munched on cookies we helped to ensures that all families receive a special package for Christmas. Members demonstrated their gift wrapping skills and helped to organize the Christmas packages that would provide the families with a Christmas tree and decorations as well as a $75 gift card to a local grocery store for a Christmas dinner.




Investing Session for Future Industry Leaders

What did we do?

50 S-drive members and friends came out to the Strachona room on the 68th floor of BMO tower in order understand more on personal investment strategies. The event included complimentary drinks and appetizers, as well as an exclusive investment workshop featuring some of the top investment minds (from three different firms) in Toronto.




November Edition Sociable Thursday

What did we do? 25 S-drive members and friends met up for a few casual drinks after work in the third edition of Sociable Thursdays.  


A Night at City Hall with Councillor Perks

When was it? Tuesday, November 24, 2009, 21:00
Where was it? Toronto City Hall
What did we do? A group of S-drive members met with Councillor Gord Perks and his staff for an evening of discussion regarding municipal politics, followed by a tour of Toronto City Hall. The evening was filled with conversations regarding the addition of bike lanes to the downtown core, Transit City and the 5 cent bag program. Following the interactions with the Councillor and his staff the group retired to a local pub for drinks and appetizers.


Rouge Masquerade Ball Volunteers

When was it? Saturday, November 14, 2009, 22:00
Where was it? 1 King West
What did we do? S-drive members spent the evening on November 14, 2009 volunteering at The Rouge Masquerade Ball; The United Way GenNext's premiere even! Volunteers worked with a team of 40 young professions to ensure that the evening of intrigue went off without a hitch. Members ran registration, coat checks and monitored the Silent Auction for the first half of the evening prior to joining the celebrations!


Climb Away! - An E-Drive Rock Climbing Social

Where was it? Joe Rockheads - 29 Fraser Ave. (Fraser Ave. & King St. W)
What did we do? As 20+ rockclimbing enthusiasts took to the walls at Joe Rockheads, it was a great and athletic afternoon of fun and networking with other S-drive members and friends! Watch out for photos in the next couple of months!


Audi Best Buddies Challenge, Toronto

When was it? Sunday, October 4, 2009, 11:14
Where was it? BMO Field
What did we do? S-Drive members spent the morning helping to run the first Audi Best Buddies Challenge. The volunteers helped with gift bag distribution, organization of lunch and registration while getting to meet members of Best Buddies; an organization dedicated to enhancing our communities through one-to-one friendships between students and individuals with intellectual disabilities.


S-drive Street Car Pub Crawl

When was it? Friday, September 25, 2009, 21:00
Where was it? Rivoli, 334 Queen St W, Toronto
What did we do? 100 S-drive members and friends took to the streets of Toronto on a private street car on September 25th. Dressed to the nines in their best Madonna and MC Hammer duds we toured some of Torontos best 80's themed pubs/bars. This is definitely going to be an annual event so look out for the next one coming soon!


E-drive: Sociable Thursday

Where was it? Ultra Supper Club - 314 Queen Street West
What did we do? Over 30 S-drive members attended the second edition of Sociable Thursdays in order to enjoy a few casual drinks and some good conversdation!


P-drive: Wine Tasting with iYellow

When was it? Wednesday, September 2, 2009, 22:30
Where was it? Roots on Bloor (100 Bloor Street West)
What did we do? S-drive members came out for an intimate wine tasting event, hosted in partnership with the i-Yellow Wine Club of Toronto - the city's premier wine club for young professionals. i-Yellow founder Angela Aiello introduced the group to a number of different wines primarily from the Niagara region, giving the group a stronger appreciation in the quality of local vineyards, and a more full understanding on the art of wine tasting. The event was held in the upstairs lounge area of the Roots flagship store in Bloor West village. Following the event, participants were given access to a 20% discount on all Roots merchandise. A great time was had by all.


Kayak Cruisin'

When was it? Monday, August 31, 2009, 21:00
Where was it? Toronto Harbourfront
What did we do? On a beautiful night in Toronto, 10 S-drive members and friends took to the lake for a tour around Toronto Island. We stopped at the Toronto Yacht club, turtle farm and many other sights unseen by the average boater. The weather was perfect for a night on the lake.


1st Annual S-drive Charity Softball Tournament

When was it? Saturday, August 22, 2009, 12:00
Where was it? Coronation Park (Lakeshore & Strachan)
What did we do? Eight teams took to the field at Coronation Park for a fun filled day of Softball in order to raise money for KidSport Ontraio and Right to Play. The air was the buzz of 90+ S-drive enthusiasts who gave their time and energy for a tournament held to raise $1,000 worth of funds for Right To Play and KidSport Ontario. A special shout-out to "The Most Interesting Team in the World" who conquered the "Red Knights" in the finals. We look forward to seeing YOU on the field in August 2010.


P-drive: Get Ahead! Networking with Headhunters

When was it? Wednesday, August 12, 2009, 22:00
Where was it? Peridot Resto Lounge, 81 Bloor Street East (Yonge and Bloor)
What did we do? Over 60 people came out to Peridot Resto Lounge to connect with some of Toronto's industry leading head-hunters and discuss the job market for young professionals in the city. Firms included: Everest Management Network, Lock Search Group, Ambit Search, Grossman Dorland & Associates and Talent Egg. In addition to some great networking, participants enjoyed hors d'oeuvres, drinks and the draw to win a new BlackBerry Storm from TELUS.


S-drive Official Launch Event

What did we do?

250 driven young professionals joined us for the launch of S-drive! This inaugural mixer featured speakers, membership information and an announcement of upcoming group events. It also featured a keynote speech from Michael Hyatt, CEO & Co-Founder of BlueCat Networks, and one of Canada's Top 40 under 40.




After Midnight: New Year's Eve Charity Gala

When was it? Thursday, January 1, 2009, 2:59
Where was it? Spoke Club
What did we do?

Before formerly launching S-drive, we started the new year with a bang and held our first charity event for over 200 attendees at the Spoke Club in downtown Toronto. Young professionals rang in the new year in style and raised $3,000 for Bloorview Kids Rehab while doing it.
